Why the proper humidity plays a vital role in the printing room

Why should a printing plant control the humidity in the printing room?

It is essential for printing plants to control the humidity in the workshop during the printing process because high-efficiency printing production cannot do without humidity control, such as: faster shift calibration, faster ink discharge and colour correction, shorter preparation time, and faster printing presses, Less waste and loss, more standard workshop humidity. Therefore, humidification equipment needs to be installed in the printing workshop to significantly increase the moisture content of the dry air in the workshop, stabilize the humidity index during the printing process, and effectively improve the printing production efficiency and product quality.

In the printing industry, some of the frequent failure phenomena in the printing production process are mostly related to environmental humidity, but they are often ignored by everyone. For example, when the printing humidity is insufficient, the paper attracts each other, the paper sticks, the paper is difficult to feed, or the paper repels each other, and the paper is not collected neatly, which increases paper consumption. If the printing ink discharges while moving, "static ink spots" may appear on the printed matter, which can be effectively solved by increasing the relative humidity in the air.

Nowadays, humidification in the printing industry has become a trend. Because the air in the printing workshop is relatively dry, the air will absorb moisture from the material, which will cause the paper to easily generate static electricity, and the phenomenon of static electricity beaten by the staff will affect the work efficiency. Especially in the dry seasons of autumn and winter, static electricity is more likely to occur. The better way to solve static electricity is to humidify. When the air humidity in the workshop reaches more than 50%, the static electricity phenomenon will basically disappear. The better way to increase the air humidity is to use a humidifier for printing to increase the humidity of the air.

It is understood that in the process of production, processing, printing, and packaging workshops, the humidity of the workshop environment should be maintained at a relatively constant environment between 55% and 65%. Suppose the humidity environment depends on the natural environment, even in the rainy season. It is difficult to achieve. Therefore, 90% of printing plants will use industrial humidifiers to maintain a constant humidity environment in the workshop.

The role of humidification in printing plants:

1.Eliminate static electricity. Paper is prone to static electricity. Staff often have static stickiness, especially in the autumn and winter dry seasons. The intensity of static electricity is closely related to environmental humidity. When the relative humidity is 30%, static electricity is more active, and when the humidity is lower, static electricity is more active. As the humidity increases, it gradually decreases and basically disappears when the humidity exceeds 50%.

2.Avoid wrinkles. The cause of paper wrinkles is due to phenomena such as "ruffles" or "tight edges," which make the paper unable to stretch and wrinkles during printing. This phenomenon will cause a lot of waste in the printer.

3.Remove dust from paper. The paper powder contained in the paper and the dust in the air are flying everywhere in the drying room, which has varying degrees of influence on the quality of the printed matter. When the indoor humidity exceeds 50%, various dust flies will absorb water and become heavier and fall to the ground.

4.Prevent expansion and deformation. Due to the wide variety of paper, its expansion and contraction rates are also different. If the humidity of the paper and the environment cannot be balanced, it will cause the following conditions: the paper swells, loses water and shrinks, so the paper produced is unqualified.
